With the approval of the State Council, on January 6, 2020, the people's Bank of China and the Bank of Laos (Lao central bank) signed a bilateral cooperation agreement in local currency, which allows the direct use of the local currency of both parties for settlement in all transactions under current and capital accounts that have been opened by the two countries.
The signing of bilateral local currency cooperation agreement by the central banks of China and Laos is conducive to further deepening the monetary and financial cooperation between China and Laos, improving the use level of bilateral local currency, and promoting trade and investment facilitation.
